Gas Money
Peter Happel Christian
Gas Money is a visual study of skill, imperfection, accidents, urgency, labor, desperation, ingenuity, economics, and failure. This project by St. Cloud, Minnesota based artist Peter Happel Christian is comprised of 24 individual detachable postcards that make up this unique book object. The pictures that make up Gas Money were made with the artist’s camera phone as he ran errands and made his way to appointments — his comings and goings in the world. It is also a record of people coming and going and trying; trying to make do, trying to fix mistakes, trying to make bad look better.
